VENETO WEST is the production company and recording studio of producer/mixer Ronan Chris Murphy. Los Angeles based, Ronan works around the world in the wide extremes of music. His credits range from several albums with prog-rock virtuosos King Crimson, to multi-million selling pop star Jamie Walters, to singer-songwriter Martin Sexton and to projects with members of Tool, Weezer, Ministry and Dishwalla. He has worked with a virtual who's who list of some of the world's greatest and most prestigious musicians. His musical career began as a teenager playing clubs in the early 80's Washington, D.C. hardcore punk scene. He went on to perform extensively and tour throughout North America. While many of his contemporaries continued on to have successful careers as performers, Murphy made the switch to recording. He has gained a reputation as a producer and mixer for 'musician's musicians' while still working with developing artists in the underground. In 2006 Murphy started Veneto West Records and began work on his own album.
SHELDON GOMBERG - Producer/Engineer/Mixer/Bass Player
Sheldon has been in his own band, as well as many others, as a bass player since he was a teen. He's been a sought after session musician here in L.A., but has gradually made the transition from player to producer, learning his craft through years of sessions, ultimately falling in love with the process. And it shows on his tracks, as well as in his carefully constructed studio. He's played with a wide variety of artists, ranging from Five For Fighting to Grant Lee Phillips to Eleni Mandell. Recording highlights include Garrison Starr, Peter Himmelman, Jim Bianco and many others.
DARREL HERBERT - Producer/Composer/Engineer
Darrel is the former guitarist and songwriter for the platinum selling rock group The Toadies (Interscope) and Geffen recording artists the tomorrowpeople. After being exposed to top flight producers, engineers and studios during his tenure as a musician (Andy Wallace, Tom Rothrock, Rob Schnapf, e.g.), he spent 5 years in New York working as an engineer with producer Nile Rodgers and freelancing at local studios. Credits include Duran Duran, Soul Decision, Dax Riders, Michael Bolton and Chic, as well as various radio and TV spots. Darrel now makes his home in Los Angeles and is available for production, mixing, engineering and co-writing opportunities.
TOM HERBERS - Engineer/Producer
I met Tom 10 years ago when I lived and worked in Minneapolis. He was, and remains, the 'go to' guy for alternative rock bands and singer-songwriters in Minneapolis and beyond. His Third Ear Recording Studio is a musician's treasure trove of gear and instruments. You might know his work with Low, The Honeydogs, Grant Hart, Victoria Williams, Martin Zellar and many, many others.
